Why Astrology
You’re on a rock teeming with life and hurdling through space. You possess a brain that’s wired to make meaning from patterns. You crave and feel reward from meaning-making, profound bursts of which are called “spiritual experiences.”
I am not going to be able to tell you definitively what you’re doing here, but I find astrology to be one of the most compelling systems to use to think about those types of questions. The first time I went to an astrologer I was lucky to go to a good one and she read me like a book. Astrology facilitates the experience of being truly seen by another human being. The structure provides a container for that which allows both client and astrologer to witness the process.
I Didn’t Make This Up
Astrology and astronomy used to be the same thing. We tracked the motion of the planets and tried to see correlations between their positions and what unfolded on Earth – we tried to understand the trajectories of crops and blights and kings. Over time, people codified techniques to do this. The form of astrology I practice is described as Hellenistic or Traditional, and originated around 200 C.E. My teachers include Chris Brennan, Austin Coppock, Amy Green, and Christopher Warnock. My understanding of Astrology and Planetary Magic comes from their teachings and my own interactions with source texts and planetary influences.
